Friends with a twist

Why do you call me your friend?
Have you been one to me?
What is the meaning of a friend?
Or significance of one in your life

Sharing all, giving all, being one
Is what friendship is all about
Or has the definition changed
Sharing some, giving some and
Being together just for a while



Isn’t lying to, hiding some
Like betrayal in friendship
Or is it all forgiven when
An adequate justification is given

One thing I am sure now
That friendship isn’t just the same
Or maybe I’m old fashioned and
Still lay too much trust and faith

But then again I shouldn’t be cynical
Coz of handful of people
Ultimately friends are indeed the siblings
That God forget to give us.
