Why Women Go Silent....................

Silence is golden, they say, but not always. Women who are otherwise very chatty, suddenly go silent, doesn't go down very well with everyone. Especially with the man in her life and more so if the silence is targeted at him.

If you Google the title of this post, you will find lot of articles stating how women try this tactic to manipulate. Depending on the level of your relationship, the silence could mean lots of things. John Gray, author of the famous book - Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus - also gives lot of perspective on this matter.

I have a different take here. Not all women are manipulative, but yes, I think deep down there is need for attention, which they feel they did not get or were ignored. It could also mean that they simply do not want confrontations and arguments. 'Silent treatment' does not always mean being immature, it can be a way of cooling things off. Words spoken when angry are more damaging to any relationship than silence. One thing I am not sure of is whether women want to be left alone to brood and get over this OR seek attention, and want to be cajoled and asked to vent out their anger. I guess this would depend on the situation and also the person at whom the silence is targeted.

All said and done, I know it is not the correct way to resolving anything. But the whole point of me wanting to write about this is to say that this situation should not be used to label women as manipulative, immature and other such things.

And coming to think of it, this is okay ONLY when you are being silent and NOT when it is targeted at you! :P
